The Room Mates

◊ Well, I have been talking about writing this since the first week I got here and now is the time to do it. So here it is, the much-hyped Room Mate Featuerette! There are three rooms in our 'flat' with two people in each one.

I will begin with the Portugeese. Two of them live in a room next to me. They used to be be best friends untill they arrived here and decided that they hate each other. Ricardo and I get along great. We usually go to the menza together. I have learned more about Portugal than I ever cared to know. For instance: the Portgueese love getting lost. They have no use for "maps" or "directions". Those things only get in the way. This goes a long way in explaning why the Portgueese were the greatest explorers that Europe have ever know.

The other Portugeese is Jouam. At least that is what I think his name is, I am guessing somewhat. I prononunce his name more like 'Jerome' mumbeled, but I don't think English has an adequate way of spelling it or prononunicing it. Thankfully, this is not a problem as he is almost never around for me to butcher in front of him.

In another room lives an American, Nelson. I have already written much about him because we travel together a lot. He is from KSU, like most of us Americans, and studying Chemical Engineering. Now, don't get me wrong. I think he is great, but this guy has bigger maturity issues than I do, and that is saying something. I guess that what makes him so interesting to hang around.

He shares a room with Neils, our Sweed. He is the only one who lived here last semester. He is an Electrical Engineering student llike me and we even share a class. Of course that class is 'Introduction To Laser Physics' which has turned out to not be a real class at all, but more of a read-this-book-and-learn-it class. Neils is also not around very much. I am not sure where he is always disappearing off to. My theory is that he has a secret underground tunnel to Sweeden, and is going to be leading another Sweedish invasion of Europe. Or maybe it has something to do with being busy with school. Nah.

Lastly there is David. He is an architect and I share a room with him and his girlfriend, Sara. They are architects from, of course, KSU. David is obsessed with chocolate, Coca-Cola, and Peurto Rico (the game, not the country). Sara likes travel, long walks on the beach, and Pina Coladas. Ok, so I just made those last two up. We get along decently well. At least they don't do anything that drives me crazy, and sometimes they migrate to their other room.
