Computer Fixin'
◊ At the beginning of the semester, Ricardo came to me with a question about how to get on the network that a friend of his could not figure out. Yesterday, this random guy shows up at my door and asks if I can help him fix his computer again. "Again? I don't remember fixing it the first time." The problem was with a file used in the booting process named NTLDR. He went to the Microsoft website and tried to follow their directions. As most people have come to realize, if Microsoft gives you directions to do something, you should do the exact opposite. They were having him manually create a boot disk, something which is easier said than done for the average user. It took me about five minutes and Google to fix it. All he had were system restore (read: format) discs, but it was not difficult to find the files that were needed elsewhere. I like it when problems are easy to solve. Which brings me to my point:
Why do I not ever have computer problems that are easy to fix?
When something goes wrong with one of my computers it is usually fatal and always frustrating. Flagrant System Error. Computer = Over. Wonderful.
