Aftermath

◊ Now THAT is what I call a wedding reception. I spent several hours helping to decorate while the guests of honor were getting married and somehow we turned the student club into a semi-classy setting. I set up my laptop to provide us with music. There was tons of food and even more alcohol. I think they bought enough champaign to drink an entire army under the table. During the cake cutting I had a little run in with the ground. Someone had spilt some champaign on the ground and my feet slipped out from underneath me. I had a camera in my hand so my first priority was to protect that. Don't worry though, my face broke my fall. It still hurts. I don't think they were expecting nearly so many wedding gifts considering how few friends either has here. But, thanks to the American Dollar and the power of IKEA, we were able to make an impressive showing. Somehow in the days running up to the wedding Lira decided that for my gift, I would be in charge of the flowers. Note: it is usually a good idea to put a guy in charge of the flowers for your best friend's wedding. Everyone said I did a good job with it, but I write that off more as good luck than anything else. As one additional gift, Nelson and I gave the happy couple our last shot of Absinthe 35. After hearing about what happened later that night, perhaps that was not the most responsible thing to have done.
◊ I think the thing that set this apart from any other wedding party was foosball. There are two foosball tables in that club and the competition was fierce. I am proud to say I did decent, but it quickly became obvious who there spent too much time in bars. I had queued up a playlist of romantic and party music, but this apparently was not sufficient and was pushed aside after the first hour. Even though I heard my music collection mocked several times that evening, people always seemed to find what they were after. I am sorry, but I do not think I will post pictures of the day. There are just too many. Maybe I will later after we have gone though them and find the best ones. As for now, I am still nursing one well-deserved hang over. Also, I hear they are serving smazney syr in the menza. Mmmmm...
