IKEA

◊ Today I decided to ride to the end of the yellow line and see the holy grail of interior decorating and Swedish life... IKEA. It was friggin huge. I understand now what he is talking about in Fight Club when he tells about having the IKEA home. With enough money and an empty house a person could coordinate an entire home's decoration from one store. I found it fascinating. It is a good thing that I have no way of transporting anything home or else I would have been tempted to purchase all kinds of furniture and diffused lighting made from environmentally conscious materials. I hear these things are everywhere on the coasts. Prague even has two. What I want to know is, why do we not have anything like this in the Midwest? Those Swedes sure know their interior decorating.
◊ While I was clear out there I also went to the giant mall near by in hopes of finding a new computer fan. The one in my hard drive enclosure is dying a painful, loud death. This has lead me to making the startling discovery that there is no Czech equivalent of Radio Shack. If you want electronic components, you cannibalize something else or go without. At this large mall, there was a store very much like a Best Buy, and they sold much of the same stuff; just about everything except for computer fans. I would say that part of the trip was wasted except we stopped in the food court to grab lunch because we were all sick and tired of menza food. I found a finger-food joint that was running a half-price special on their combo meals, so I got myself a schnitzlburger. Mmmmm... schnitzlburger. Tasty.
