Things Are Looking Up

◊ Some things finally started to go right this evening. For days I have have been struggling to stretch out every last korun untill my parents could Western Union me some money. I would like to list everything that has gone wrong since I arrived, but I did not come here to complain and noone wants to hear it anyways. Many many trips to internet cafes and WU agents later I have finally recieved some money and bought some groceries. Starvation diets make for wonderful weight loss, but it will all come back. (I was almost hungry enough to let go of my pride and ask my roommates for food. My Czech buddy, Maro, insisted that I take a banana-nut-like cake after hearing my stomach growl during a meeting. And then I got my internet turned on. Farethee well, internet cafes. I write from my room in Masarykova now. Yes, this means that once I have recovered from hunger and stress fatgue I will begin posting photos.
◊ We also picked out classes this morning. I think I have decided to persue satalite communications and not bioengineering, even though I think the biggest money is in the latter. I have not had it approved by Dean King, but some additional classes I am taking are 'Introduction to Laser Physics' and 'Systems Using Solar Energy'. I will also be taking a class of Czech culture and one on Czech language.

  • I'm glad to hear talk of academics. Even if you mess up your classes, you've already learned a lot!

By the way, congratulations on becoming an uncle for the second time. look at my blog for photos. JoyAnne looks forward to meeting you. Until then, I am going to photoshop you into a family picture sometime.
