Packing II: Revenge Of The Suitcase
◊ The process of packing for my move home began today in earnest. Thankfully, since David has already gone, I have all the space to work with that I need. I began by pulling out all of the things I bought to formulate a packing strategy. Most of my clothing will be dirty on the way home, so I don't have to worry about packing in an organized fashion, only an efficient one. At this point it looks as if I should be able to get it all home without too much trouble, although I still have a couple of bottles of alcohol and boxes of biscuits to buy before I will be finished. My only real concern will be weight. Since I fly Air France and Delta the whole way, I have an extremely generous luggage limitation. I have no way of weighing my bags, so I guess I will find out how generous when I get to the airport. I am throwing away several pieces of worn-out clothing and a towel, but I will also be packing to make it easy to lighten my load if necessary. Hopefully it will not come to that.
◊ As an amusing side note to all of this, I have found a significant quantity of underwear and undershirts that I forgot to unpack from one of my bags before I put it away at the beginning of the semester. Several times this semester I had wondered why I had packed so many more socks than the rest of my whites. My intention had been to bring enough whites so that I would run out of everything at about the same time. At last I have found what happened to that missing clothing. If I would have used them I could have saved at least one and probably two loads of laundry. With laundry as expensive as it is, that would have been significant. I have found myself saying this more in the last few months than is healthy; "Live and learn."

forget the alcohol. You risk breaking the bottle and ruining the clothes & whatever you have packed around them. You do not need it anyways!!!!
