Money And Grades

◊ I closed out my Czech bank account. The bad news is that I spent 85% of what I had transferred over. The good news is that at least now bringing the remainder home with me is no longer an unsafe prospect. This is also partly due to the (once again) poor exchange rate for the korun. Immediately after I purchased so many, the dollar bottomed out and has risen back above where it was when I came here. To see the results in figures, the $2000 I transferred here in March bought 42,000Kc. Even if I still had all 42,000Kc, they would now only be worth $1,680. I am uncertain exactly how much money I still have at home, but after paying back my parents what I owe them for my plane tickets etc. it is unclear if I will have anything left of my life savings.
Translation: I AM BROKE.
◊ I also picked up my transcript today. I had been told to deliver it sealed to my department's office next semester. CVUT, however, did not seal the envelope. If I were to give it to K-State there would be questions of tampering and my entire semester could be thrown out. I pondered the problem for a moment before licking the envelope and sealing it myself. Problem solved.
